Summerize Your Skin
It’s summertime and fun in the sun! Ronit Falevitch of Exclusive Skin Care in Beverly Hills gives her recommendations for keeping skin beautiful during and after the season. Ronit provides private skin care consultations for Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas, Bo Derek, Nancy Reagan and Maria Conchita Alonso. They are just a few celebrity clients she can mention. The rest of course, must remain private!

Her facial regimen starts before even going out in the sun. “Give yourself a light exfoliation at least once a week to remove pollution and dead skin cells.” Her fave is Fenix 24 Botanical Scrub for both face and body. Moisturize afterwards with Environ C-quence #4, an antioxidant serum that provides protection from free radicals. Then shield your skin from damaging solar rays with La Roche-Posay Sunblock. “This is the only one I recommend because La Roche-Posay is the only sunscreen with mexsoryl sx, an ingredient that provides the highest UVB and UVA protection and has been approved by the FDA for total sun protection.”
If you’re spending a lot of time on the beach, Ronit likes Waterproof Sunscreen by Fenix to protect the rest of your skin. Afterwards, don’t forget to re-nourish your sun-drenched skin with a hydrating oil after showering. She recommends Neutrogena Body Oil followed by La Roche-Posay Body Emollient to “help the oil penetrate the skin and make it smooth.” Chapped lips or sun burned? Use Aquaphor ointment by Eucerin.

Treat your face to the CA Botana Honey Almond Mask from the Ambrosia line, which is rich in vitamins and great for all skin types. Ronit says the mask has a calming and soothing effect and is especially excellent for the summer when you’ve dehydrated your skin. She adds, “It’s one that does it all. It’s also great for the body. Actually, Bo Derek uses it all over her body. She loves it!”
Well, we may not all look like Bo, but with Ronit’s tips we can definitely make our skin a “10!”

Born with naturally curly hair and don’t know what to do with it this summer. Why not follow in Sarah Jessica Parker’s footsteps and get gorgeous waves. Hair stylist, salon owner and Curl Talk author, Ouidad, tells us how all you curl girls can accomplish this.

1. After shampooing and conditioning, leave about 25% of the conditioner in hair.
2. Separate hair into sections about 2 inches wide and 2 inches thick for bigger waves.
3. Apply styling lotion to each section evenly working all the way up to the top of the head.
4. When you get to the top, create a side part.
5. Take the side part section, apply styling lotion and create a wave pattern with the Ouidad Rake & Shake method.
6. Try not to rake too much or you will create too much bounce.
7. Allow hair to set, then gently diffuse the hair without placing in the diffuser, or again you will create too much bounce.
8. Once hair is completely dry, apply a pomade such as Ouidad Clear Control Pomade by rubbing palms together, pulling hair into a mock ponytail and running hands through. For the final touch, add a dollop of pomade at the top of the head to smooth any flyaways.

Don’t forget those body parts!
You’ve lived a lifetime, but no-one could ever tell by looking at your face. Congratulations! You’ve fooled everyone… and then they get a glimpse of your hands. Your secrets out, so what’s a girl to do? Why not try an at-home treatment such as AB Hands. It contains 15% glycolic acid which is strong enough to eliminate age spots and fine lines, even out hyperpigmentation and discoloration, lighten scars, and reverse sun damage. And since sunscreen is a must, use AB Sun to protect against harmful UV rays and to moisturize. Thankfully, you’ll see results in as little as 1-2 weeks so your secret will be safe again. AB Hands, ABskincarestore.com, $95.

Just like the rest of our bodies, the earlobes go south during the aging process and can be further damaged by constantly wearing earrings. New York plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert A. Guida, injects Restylane, a popular hyuarlonic acid filler that is used on the face to smooth out wrinkles, to perk up drooping ear lobes. The results last up to two years and the starting cost is approximately $400. So, take out those chandelier earrings and show your ears off!
Write a commentWow– what beautiful hair you have
New York facial plastic surgeon Dr. Yael Halaas, has found great success with surgical hair restoration which takes donor hair from other areas of the head and moves it to the thinning or balding areas. “The vast majority of women experience thinning hair when they hit menopause, but unlike men who thin in the front, women get diffuse thinning around the entire head so it can be a challenge to find a donor area,” she says. This procedure can be costly at $4000 and up, depending on how many grafts are needed, but the results are permanent.

According to Dr. Halaas, tight braids and extensions pull on the hair which can also result in hair loss. “This type of hair loss is called Traction Alopecia which we see often on African-American women,” she says. She also advises against using Propecia to regrow hair because it is not FDA approved and can cause dangerous hormone levels in women.
Don’t need surgery, but still need help. Check out the new pHormulate hair care line. This anti-aging system uses ChromaGuard technology to restore moisture bonds which are lost during the aging process, resulting in dull and lifeless hair. The line consists of an ammonia free coloring system and styling products that contain natural ingredients such as sage, rosemary, chamomile, lemongrass and goldenseal which are combined with the ChromaGuard technology to reverse the signs of aging hair.

Maybe you’re just not using the right brush. The Olivia Garden Healthy Hair bamboo brushes not only help detangle and style hair, but they can be used to massage your scalp, which stimulates blood flow, resulting in hair growth and reduced hair loss.
