Backstreet Boys were scheduled to perform their new single Straight Through My Heart on the the Early Show. “We were really looking forward to spending time with our closest fans and friends in NYC and take part of PINKTOBER, an unbelievable and important program” Litrell says. “I hope we can come back soon and do everything we can to help.”

On Soapnet’s new original reality series Bank of Mom & Dad, the parents will team up with a financial expert to help their daughter transform her relationship with money. It’s matter of life or debt. The series premieres tonight, September 30, 2009 at 10pm EST.

The conventions are being produced by Summit Entertainment, who also produced the films adapted from Stephanie Meyer’s novel of the same name, and Creation Entertainment. New Moon, the second film in the series, will be released on November 20, 2009 followed by Eclipse, which is due out on June 30, 2010.

Look for Katie Holmes to launch her own clothing line this fall at Maxfield stores. The collection will include “premium” women’s clothes and a children’s line, which is inspired by her daughter Suri. This isn’t the first time Holmes has played designer. Now that Paula Abdul is officially out at American Idol, the search for a fourth judge has begun. While the show searches for a permanent replacement, A-list celebrities including Victoria Beckham and Katy Perry will serve as guest judges during auditions. Fox chairman, Peter Rice says, “There is going to be a search. We love Paula. She’s been a really wonderful part of the show for eight years. There is going to be a change and that change we have to look at that as being a positive change. It wasn’t a decision we made, but we have to look at it in a positive way.” American Idol returns to the small screen in January 2010.

Who needs a publicist when you have Twitter? Certainly not American Idol judge Paula Abdul, or should we say ex-American Idol judge. Abdul announced the end of her Idol days in a series of tweets stating, “With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to Idol. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from Day 1 become an international phenomenon. What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month. I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.”

Not to worry, judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi and host Ryan Seacrest will return next season. In response to Paula’s exit, Seacrest posted on his Twitter blog, “About to go to sleep when I started seeing my Blackberry blow up. I have read what you have read and I am shocked and saddened about Paula.”
