Stars come out to Cartier Love Charity Bracelet Launch
It was a star-studded evening as Nicole Richie, Hillary Duff, Fergie and many others celebrated the 3rd Annual Cartier Love Charity Bracelet Launch in Los Angeles last night. This year’s Love charity bracelets are made of silk cords in various colors representing different charities supported by celebrities. The bracelet is available at Cartier boutiques nationwide for $995, and $200 from each sale will go to it’s corresponding charity. Emmy Rossum’s pink bracelet benefits the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Eve’s peach bracelet benefits Women in Transition, and Fergie’s orange bracelet benefits the Peapod Foundation.

Michelle Smith shows off her 2009 Cabana & Resort collection for Milly
Okay, so we’re still heading into Summer 2008, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look into next year’s summer fashions. Milly designer Michelle Smith previewed her 2009 Cabana and Resort collection at a tropical themed runway show and cocktail party at The X-Change in NYC last week. With a show to put on, Michelle couldn’t possibly host the soiree herself. Luckily, friends and interior designer Celerie Kemble and socialite Olivia Palermo entertained guests that included Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks, Katrina Bowden of 30 Rock, and Celina Carvajal of MTV’s Legally Blonde.

Kira Plastinina makes her U.S. debut
Watch out for Kira Plastinina! The 16-year-old Russian native and fashion prodigy is sweeping our nation with her designs. Her affordable name-sake line Kira has already attracted the likes of Paris Hilton, who showed up front and center to one of her fashion shows earlier this year and this past weekend Hayden Panettiere, Audrina Patridge, Adrian Grenier celebrated the designer at her U.S. launch party while watching Chris Brown perform. Her first U.S. store opened in New York last month with another 50 or so to come. Next destination– trendy paparazzi favorite Robertson Boulevard in West Hollywood, California.

Halle Berry laughs it up at AFI
Warren Beatty got the American Film Institute Lifetime Achievement award last night, but Halle Berry got all the laughs when she called her former Bulworth costar “the greatest white rapper of the past 15 years.” Good thing Eminem wasn’t there. But others in attendance included Bill Clinton, Jack Nicholson, Jane Fonda, Dustin Hoffman, Diane Keaton, and Quentin Tarantino.

Katherine Heigl snubs Emmy nominations
She may have won for Best Supporting Actress at the 2007 Emmy’s, but Katherine Heigl won’t be taking home the trophy this year. The Grey’s Anatomy actress excused herself from the ballot because she didn’t think her character had enough good material to warrant a nomination. That’s okay Katherine, we just want to see what you’ll be wearing anyway!

David Cook to sing National Anthem at NBA Finals
It’s Game 3 of the NBA Finals and staying true to tradition, American Idol winner David Cook will sing the National Anthem tonight. Former Idol winners to sing the National Anthem include the original Idol Kelly Clarkson, country sensation Carrie Underwood, Ruben Studdard, Taylor Hicks, and last year’s winner Jordin Sparks. Everybody wins with Friends of the Family

$5000 for an autographed Miley Cyrus guitar, $7000 to play golf with Bill Murray and his brothers, and $3500 to attend the Project Runway finale and see your name in lights in Times Square– these were just some of the deals bidders won at the Friends of the Family’s 12th Annual Family Matters Benefit and Celebration. The May 30th charity event at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California raised more than $450,000 and drew celebrities such as Access Hollywood co-host Nancy O’Dell, Dan Cortese, Melissa Joan Hart, Ross “The Intern” Mathews, and VH1 Celebrity Fit Club’s Stacy Kaiser. |
The evening started with a silent auction where guests bid on items such as a Kobe Bryant jersey and a Sony private screening for 40. Afterwards, Mad TV’s Debra Wilson-Skelton served as the auctioneer for the live bidding where she helped raise a little over $20,000 on only five items. Guests also enjoyed a delicious dinner while watching legendary Olympic figure skating champion Scott Hamilton receive the 2008 Spotlight Award, which was followed by dance performances by children of Friends of the Family programs.

Deborah Lindquist celebrates her Grand Opening!

It was a hot night in Hollywood, but Deborah Lindquist’s grand opening of her eco-conscious clothing store in the heart of the NoHo (North Hollywood) Arts District raised temperatures even higher with her sizzling new collection.
“A lot of organic designers just do a t-shirt type thing. Deborah has a signature style. Her cut is so sexy and she has a way of making things that are classical and yet have a little twist on them, like the classical cashmere cardigan with the skull and cross bones for that rock n’ roll rage,” said Gorgeously Green author, Sophie Uliano who was in town promoting her book in a form-fitting Jackie-O style shift by who else but Deborah Lindquist. |
Models greeted guests wearing Deborah’s new collection of sexy corset tops and elegant dresses made and sold at her boutique, accented with eco-jewelry created by Rumblefish. On display was her new line of wedding dresses which were recently seen on The View. “I did a wedding dress at the end of one of my shows. Somehow that dress got on a blog and in the USA Today newspaper and then all of a sudden I got calls from brides wanting my wedding dress and I was only doing one!”
A forerunner of eco-couture, Deborah’s designs have been spotted on Sharon Stone, Alyssa Milano, Gwen Stefani, Keisha Cole and Charlize Theron. She has also extended her line to children and dogs. Her canine fashions have been donned by the pets of Paris Hilton and Hilary Duff.
After taking a tour of her shop and personal work studio, guests were led to a back patio buffet full of organic delights. Sliced cucumbers topped with a mango puree and pita bread with a choice of hummus or baba kanoush made for a cool nosh. Parducci Wines offered Chardonnay. Guests could also quench their thirst with a refreshing pomegranate infused drink or peach infused white tea by Honest Tea, or a lemonade energy drink by Her. Decadent dessert cakes of marble with a chocolate ganache and vanilla buttercream filling, chocolate with raspberry and white chocolate filling, and lemon with lemon and raspberry filling satiated the sweet tooth. Yet, if a slice of cake was too much or not enough, more bite sized morsels of lemon bars, morello cherry short cake, Scottish brownies, and vanilla cupcakes with Viennese buttercream rounded off the delicious offerings.
Live music filled the air while guests perused Deborah’s fashions or munched at the organic fare. While enjoying the launch of this green fashion house, visitors were also treated to a massage. Who knew the grand opening of an eco-fashion house could be so savvy, sexy and relaxing!

Fashion For Life 2008 honors Lisa Kline
A fashion show in May? Then it could only have been the annual Fashion For Life show. Models, designers, celebrities and the who’s who of LA gathered at the Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills on Sunday to raise money for Friendly House, the oldest substance abuse recovery home for women in the City of Angels.
The afternoon started with a silent auction, where guests bid on designer bags that included Christian Dior and Kate Spade, four box seats to the Dodgers game, spa treatments, hotel stays and much more, all while munching on scrumptious appetizers, non-alcoholic drinks and a selection of delicious desserts from Michael Hollingsworth Catering.
After filling their stomachs, Lisa Rinna, Amber Valletta, and Jillian Reynolds took the stage to show their support for Friendly House and honor fashion retailer Lisa Kline with the 2008 Vision Award. Before presenting her with the award, Reynolds said, “Lisa Kline has become a fashion institution on Robertson. This (award) couldn’t happen to a better person.” To which, Klein replied, “You’re a huge part of the fashion business Jillian” during her acceptance speech.
The afternoon closed with a runway show highlighting Los Angeles designers Kevan Hall, Robert Rodriguez, Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, Rory Beca, Marc Callo, Diane Samandi, and Elsie Katz Couture. The audience also received a sneak peak at Paige Black Label, the new collection of skirts, trousers, dresses, vests and jackets by Paige Adams-Gellar.

Rogan launches his Target collection
When Gregory Rogan calls, celebrities answer. The top designer previewed his Rogan for Target collection at two exclusive private shopping events at Barneys in New York and Beverly Hills.
Amanda Peete, Aisha Tyler, and Jessica Szhor shopped for some new great threads while gossiping, sipping cocktails, and munching on appetizers at the Big Apple location.
In la la land, Kelly Rutherford snuck up behind her former Melrose Place castmate Marcia Cross to give her a hug hello. Marcia kept mum about the season finale of Desperate Housewives (and now we know why. Is Mike coming back?) but she couldn’t stop raving about Rogan’s bikinis. Mena Suvari (wearing Rogan for Target) and Sophia Bush were so impressed by Rogan’s designs that they programmed their digits into his iPhone so they’ll be the first he calls when his new collections come out. Heiress and fellow designer, Niki Hilton, showed up in a short white summer dress while Rachel Bilson rocked a high/low outfit in black.
The collection is now available at Target stores and online starts starts at an affordable $14.99. In fact, we spotted one shopper wearing a cute heather grey jumper suit from Rogan’s designer collection which cost her $400 and then she enthusiastically showed us a similar design in black from his Target collection that cost her only $40. Not only is this collection less expensive, it uses 100% organic cotton and natural fibers to create fashionable loose tanks, wrap dresses, and hoodies.

Marciano greenifies Guess
GUESS who’s green now? Give up, it’s Guess by Marciano. Rosario Dawson, Amy Smart, and the Gastineau Girls were just some of the stars who helped celebrate at the launch party at the famous Rodeo Drive Guess store. Amy and the younger Gastineau showed up in style wearing Marciano (pre-green of course) while mama Gastineau didn’t know what she was wearing, but she still rocked the look and Rosario just looked good! The new line, appropriately named Guess Green is available at select Guess stores nationwide and includes denim, tees, and tanks for both men and women.

Stars Visit The Kentucky Derby

No, not NY, LA, or even Chicago, but Kentucky of all places. That’s where television, film, and sports stars flocked to earlier this month. Why– you ask. The Kentucky Derby, of course! Notables such as Gabrielle Union, Taylor Hicks, Michael Jordan, and even Prince Albert showed up to watch Big Brown win the Running of the Roses. |
Then they were off to celebrate at the Seventh Annual Grand Gala and VIP Party in Louisville, which benefited the 828 Foundation. After a night of partying and charity, guests received WOW! Creations gift bags, which contained watches, gourmet chocolates, air travel certificates, luxury candles and more valued at $22,000.

LG Launch Parties with Lindsay, Paris…
So we thought we were going to the launch party of the new action-packed tv series, Scarlet. Surprise, surprise! Turns out, the ‘show’ was actually an ad for the new LG television and the stars couldn’t wait to hear about it!
Lindsay Lohan arrived dateless in a cleavage-bearing electric blue dress while Scarlet herself, Natassia Malthe (she’s one to watch) sparkled in a long silver gown. Even party girl Paris Hilton showed up, but she kept a low profile to support her DJ boyfriend Benji Madden as he worked the event with Steve Aoki.
Emmy Rossum, who’s taking a breather from her album to film her next movie and Vanessa Marcil (Las Vegas) looked innocent, and not to mention beautiful in white. Sporting a short black and white French Connection dress, Lauren Conrad (The Hills), claimed she was very single and very happy.
Other’s who stopped by included Ashlee Simpson’s ex, musician Ryan Cabrerra, Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes), Kristin Cavallari, Bai Ling, Dave Annable (Brothers and Sisters), Jason Lewis (Sex and the City), Laura Prepon and Wilmer Valderrama (both of That 70’s Show), and Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, of course showed up attached to the hip.
After the presentation, the party moved to the rooftop of the Pacific Design Center where guests enjoyed delicious food and drinks by Wolfgang Puck while dancing the night away.

Star calls it quits!
Talk about money down the drain. Remember Star Jones’ lavish 2004 wedding to investment banker Al Reynolds - well it’s over! The former talk show host filed for divorce on March 26th, which means she’s back on the market. On the bright side, at least she can cut her legal fees by representing herself.

Desperate Housewives Shakes it Up
Who’s Leaving Wisteria Lane? It could be just about anybody. Taking cue from Lost, Desperate Housewives will either go back or forward in time, which means a few somebody’s won’t be around next season. Go back– there’s no Mike or Orson. Fast forward a few years, they’re both proud papas with toddlers or maybe even teenagers. Or could one of the girls be on their way out? Stay tuned for the season finale!

This jack of all trades made history on April 7th as the first rock and roll musician to receive the honor. Up next, the Tony.
