Britney Spears and Leona Lewis on top
By

Britney Spears fans will be happy to know that she is back on top. She has sold more than half a million copies of her LP Circus, earning her the number one spot on the Billboard 200. In first week sales figures, Circus actually outsold records by Madonna, Mariah Carey, and teen queen Miley Cyrus in it’s first week.

Billboard Magazine has named Leona Lewis the Top New Artist of 2008. Lewis, who topped charts with her song Bleeding Love, sold more albums than any other new artist and she is also up for three Grammy Awards for Record of the Year, Pop Vocal Performance, and Best Pop Album. “I think that Bleeding Love isn’t like your typical love song. It’s got quite a painful lyric and I think a lot of people have experienced relationships on that level where it’s not always fun. Sometimes you do have those painful moments and that’s what ‘Bleeding Love’ is about,” she said.
