Backstreet Boys’ Brian Litrell has Swine Flu
By Abbey Khan
Don’t expect to see the Backstreet Boys perform on the CBS Early Show tomorrow morning or at today’s NYC PINKTOBER Hard Rock Café signing as planned. Group member Brian Litrell has been diagnosed with the swine flu. Luckily, his bandmates Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean are not showing any symptoms but their doctor has prescribed Tamiflu to the group and their touring party, after returning to the U.S. from Tokyo.

Backstreet Boys were scheduled to perform their new single Straight Through My Heart on the the Early Show. “We were really looking forward to spending time with our closest fans and friends in NYC and take part of PINKTOBER, an unbelievable and important program” Litrell says. “I hope we can come back soon and do everything we can to help.”
Look for their new album This is Us, which comes out tomorrow, October 6th on Jive Records.

Twilight fan conventions coming to a city near you!
By Sara Moore
It was bound to happen. And now it finally has. Official Twilight fan conventions will be held around the U.S. and Canada over the next three years. These weekend conventions will feature on-stage appearances by the film’s actors, exclusive footage screenings, panel discussions, themed parties, musical performances, costume and trivia competitions, auctions, autographing, merchandising, and photo opportunities. More than 20 stops have already been announced including Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles and Boston.

The conventions are being produced by Summit Entertainment, who also produced the films adapted from Stephanie Meyer’s novel of the same name, and Creation Entertainment. New Moon, the second film in the series, will be released on November 20, 2009 followed by Eclipse, which is due out on June 30, 2010.
