Adam Lambert has come a long way since playing Linus in his school production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. In the new E! True Hollywood Story, the American Idol runner-up talks about how he told his parents that he was gay, the release of potentially damaging photos of him kissing an ex-boyfriend during the height of the American Idol craze, his Rolling Stone magazine cover story, and his highly criticized American Music Awards performance.

“I’m very fortunate to have parents that recognized that I was different and recognized how I was special. They didn’t ever try to box me in,” Lambert says about his parents, who along with his brother and close friends talk to E! about his childhood in North San Diego County.

E! TRUE HOLLYWOOD STORY: Adam Lambert premieres November 21st at 9pm EST/PST only on E!

I saw this episode years ago and thought it was very well done and portrayed Adam accurately and fairly. Adam is so lucky to have such supportive parents and friends. he deserves all the success that life has to offer.
