Vacation on the cheap at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics
The 2010 Vancouver Olympics is just a week away and believe it or not it’s still not too late to see the games. Travel expert Christine Karpinski knows this because she just recently finalized her travel arrangements.
“My family will soon be flying from Texas to Vancouver to take in among other events an Olympic hockey game, and we’ll be staying within walking distance of the venue,” says Karpinski. “When people ask me when I started making all these plans, they always expect me to say something like ‘November 2008.’ So when I tell them I purchased the hockey tickets this past November—yes, November of ‘09—and just finalized my travel arrangements in January, they’re stunned.”

Here are Karpinski’s tips for booking your Olympic vacation without spending a fortune:
How to get there
You have to plot your plan for getting from point A (your home) to point B (Vancouver). If you live in the Pacific Northwest, like Seattle, then you might be able to drive across the border for a short stay or even just for the day.
Everyone else will have to travel by airplane. Check with popular online travel agencies as well as the websites of individual airlines. Play around with different departure and arrival points. You never know when a good deal might pop up, or how long it will last, so be ready to book quickly.

2009 Holiday Travel Tips
By Julie Wiegan
Travel with ease during the holidays with these tips from EL AL Airlines, Israel’s national airline.
Try to fly during the week
If at all possible, book your flight sometime in the middle of the week. Normally, weekend departures have a much higher demand than mid-week flights, and often times the best prices can be found during the week.
Check for hotel/airfare deals
Many airlines offer packages and discounts on hotels, as well as combination air/car rental packages, depending on the airline and destination. Call the airline or check out the airline’s website for deals as many of these combinations are very competitively priced.

Check for special discounts
Many airlines offer discounts for families, children, and anyone over the age of 60 as well as their travel companions. Call the airline or view the website to find out discounts and special accommodations.
Consider late flights or red eyes
Red eyes and late night flights offer several advantages. First of all, when leaving at night, travelers can have a full day at the office or home. On the return, when taking a late night flight, travelers have a full day at their destination and don’t have to pay for an extra hotel night. Evening flights offer early morning arrival, as well as a quieter flight that allows for a better nights sleep on board.

Get free WiFi at airports

Google will match donations up to $250,000 across the three non-profits and the airport that gets the highest dollar amount contributed per passenger by January 1, 2010 will receive $15,000 to donate to the local charity of their choice. Fly in style!
By Sara Moore
Don’t sacrifice fashion for comfort. Next time you get on a plane, follow these five tips from style expert and designer Lisa Vogel.

No pj’s please! Opt for the new Fall trend: Denim leggings
Travelers can still keep it comfy and chic by wearing the new denim leggings and ballet flats or sandals.
No workout wear! Wear light and airy linen instead.
Traveling on a jet plane is not the time to look like you’re on your way to spin class. Sure it may be super easy to travel in, but the spandex and sports bra are better left for gym time. Opt for linen pants instead. They’re comfy as can be and if they get wrinkled on the flight, not a problem, wrinkles are part of the whole linen look!
