Easy Virtue
By Abbey Khan

Adapted from Noel Coward’s play, Easy Virtue has all the themes of a modern day story but is set in the roaring twenties. When Englishman John Whittaker (Ben Barnes) introduces his beautiful new wife Larita (Jessica Biel), an American race car driver, to his family, she is immediately shunned by his controlling mother-in-law (Kristin Scott Thomas) and a battle ensues between the two for John’s affection. Who will John choose and will Larita’s secret past finally catch up with her?
Recommendation: If you like watching in laws battle it out, then you’ll love watching Kristin Scott Thomas and Jessica Biel go at it. Thomas is so good at the role that you love hating her but at the same time you feel sorry for her because of her loveless marriage to Mr. Whittaker played by Colin Firth. There are also many comedic situations, look out especially for the Can-Can dance scene.
Easy Virtue is a Sony Pictures Classics release and opens in theaters on May 22, 2009.
